Empire
Our most ambitious barrel-aged stout to date, Empire is a triple barrel-aged beer that has undergone successive aging in bourbon, rum, and maple syrup barrels. Each stage of the aging process adds another layer of depth, from the oaky, whiskey-driven backbone to the sweetness of rum and the final rich maple influence. Unlike our other adjunct-heavy stouts, Empire is pure, relying entirely on the barrels to develop its flavor. It’s an incredibly complex beer, reminiscent of bourbon-drenched pancakes, with evolving layers of warmth, spice, and sweetness.
This very very special beer was aged first on Willett bourbon for 9 months then on rum barrels 16 months and finished on maple bourbon barrels with vanilla from Comoros, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu volcanic vanilla for another 9 months. Enthusiastically crafted at our church brewery on Sturegatan 41 in Sundbyberg, Sweden.
